Your bathroom area may be small because you have a small apartment or you may need to build an additional bathroom for your expanding family. Perhaps you are looking for a small bathroom suite to maximize space in your main bathroom, or looking to save money and limit your environmental impact by reducing the water you use and the energy used to heat it.

En suites used to be just a vanity basin and a shower in your B&B or hotel room, but they have now become common place in new build housing and a popular addition to any family home. To be able to brush your teeth and have a quick shower without forming an orderly queue is more than just time saving, it becomes indispensable. When considering a en suite you need to decide what you want from it, do you need a toilet and a shower or will a vanity basin suffice? Where will you put it? Try and keep it simple and minimal or an en suite becomes a small bathroom.

Small bathrooms take on different designs from wet rooms to a full bathroom suite, what you go for will greatly depend on needs, space and design. Is it an additional bathroom to save time competing for the bath in the morning? Or will it be the ultra modern full power shower, heated towel rail and bidet for the city bachelor pad. Having an enclosed shower instead of a full bath will save room and to add a bit of luxury you can add water jets in a shower panel at the sides. Carefully selecting bathroom cabinets and furniture for storage can also save room. Toilets, basins, baths and shower basins come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes so mix and match to fit your bathroom and requirements.

There is also the environmental implications to consider by having a shower instead of a bath you not only save on precious water but on the cost of energy to heat that water. There are also many different styles of shower, if you have a full power shower with body jets blazing for ten minutes you'll probably be better off having a bath. Choosing a toilet with a dual flush will help reduce water consumption and a slim-line toilet will save space as well as water. To take that extra step you may want to consider recycling waste water by using rain water to flush your toilet for example.
