Bathroom scales

Bathroom scales are available in a baffling range of designs and can have a choice of functions that you need an NVQ to understand.  There are digital bathroom scales, mechanical bathroom scales, even bathroom scales that talk to you.  So here is some advice on what bathroom scales might suit you.

Mechanical scales are the most common variety of bathroom scales, they are what most of us will be familiar with.  They consist of a large pressure pad a with a circular dial and needle at top that races around alarmingly as we step upon it.  A simple white compact set of Salter mechanical scales will cost around thirteen pounds.  For those that might require a larger more robust set of bathroom scales could go for Tanita large platform scales at around sixty pounds.

If you find mechanical scales difficult to read or want to know your exact weight in clear figures, then electronic bathroom scales are they choice for you.  Electronic scales come in a wider more contemporary range of designs with stainless steel and glass pads.  The most defining feature is there LCD display telling you exactly how many pounds and ounces or kilos you weigh to the desired decimal point.  Whilst they come in a broader range of styles to match your bathroom design they are not for the faint hearted as there is little room for creative margin.

For the more fitness or diet concious of us there are specific body fat monitors and diet scales available.  Some such as the Tanita segmental body composition analyser will give you accurate readings on the water and fat percentages of your individual arms legs and body!  These are obviously much more expensive than the electronic and mechanical bathroom scales but are useful for the dedicated athlete and fitness fanatics.
