Bathroom planning

Bathroom planning is perhaps the most important part of any bathroom design.  Without even a basic plan you will encounter disaster along the way.

There are so many things to consider when planning a bathroom design.  A plan can make life easier whether you are refitting the whole bathroom or changing the taps. so here are just some of the things youneed to think about:

Theme or style - consider the effect and style you want to create.  Do you want a country cottage, gothic, zen or contemporary?  Think about colours and materials.  With this in mind you can start designing and filling your bathroom.

Budget - Before you start spending work out a budget for everything you need.  Including sealants, tiles, lights, furniture, installation as well as the bath, toilet, shower and basin.  It's very easy to blow the entire budget on a must have bath and be left with no money to plumb it in.

Size - How big is your bathroom? You need to make a floor plan to make sure that everything you need will fit in.  For small bathrooms there are specialist products shaped to maximise small spaces.

Fittings and furniture -What do you need in the bathroom?  Do you need a bath and a shower?

Source - Where are you going to buy your bathroom?  There are many online retailers and local bathroom showrooms.  Some will stock products by a variety of companies and some showrooms will design, produce, sell and install their own.  Chances are that you will have to go to a few different sources to get everything you need.

Fitting - Many bathroom suppliers offer their own installation services but there are many independant plumbers and bathroom fitters who can help you fit your bathroom proffessionally and safely.

Timescale - Perhaps the hardest thing to plan.  However if you have to have the bathroom finished for the family coming for Christmas, then that may effect the entire plan.

There are of course many other things that can  be included in your bathroom planning but I hope this brief guide helps you get started.
